Dear MERT member,

Some MERT members have a new employment agreement that means future redundancy payments will be made to another fund based in Victoria, PROTECT.

MERT has been around for 34 years and continues to provide benefits not available from PROTECT. MERT will remain a strong force for redundancy benefit protection.

MERT has a strong history of paying yearly distributions to eligible members. PROTECT does not do this.

If your new employment agreement results in future employer contributions being made to PROTECT, you can keep your current balance in MERT to receive any future distribution payments. Future contributions from your employer can be sent to PROTECT or some other fund under your employment agreement. Retaining your existing funds in MERT allows you to benefit from any future distribution payments from MERT.

MERT is a Great Fund

MERT was established in 1988 to safeguard the redundancy benefits of thousands of mechanical and electrical workers within the building and construction industry across Australia.

How important is your pay today? Your MERT savings are as important at times of employment transition.
